Dr. Barry was born and raised in Calgary where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of Calgary. Growing up playing hockey, skiing and doing triathlons, he was often injured, run down and had difficulty recovering from races. After being introduced to chiropractic he soon found his health in general improved drastically – recovered faster, healed easier and rarely got sick anymore.
After attending Palmer College of Chiropractic in the Bay Area, California and graduating in 1995, he moved to Seattle where he owned and operated a chiropractic wellness center for 18 years. Along the way he and his wife had three boys who have enjoyed an active and healthy upbringing through the chiropractic lifestyle.
By the end of 2014 it was time for Dr. Barry to return Home, so he packed up his family and returned to Calgary where he has settled back into life amongst family and old friends. With his return he brings his experience and skill to the thriving family practice here at Pure Health Chiropractic.
Dr. Barry remains active in his wellness pursuits; playing hockey, skiing, biking and doing CrossFit. He speaks regularly on health and wellness topics and prides himself on living the lifestyle he empowers others to live.
Darla JarrettCHN, NNCP
Hello my name is Darla Jarrett, I am a mom to three awesome kids, 12 year old boy/girl twins and a 14 year old daughter, and I totally live a balanced lifestyle……LOL! Through my experience of being a mom, a fitness trainer, and a Holistic Nutritionist, I’ve learned to live with what can sometimes be total chaos but still live a healthy life, making my health and fitness a priority. I understand crazy schedules, eating on the go, feeling totally exhausted and time constraints. We need to make our health a priority; no one else can do this for us.
My journey into the world of nutrition began when I was a fitness trainer, I learned that “Bodies are created in the kitchen, not in the gym”, this came after about 5 years of killing myself in the gym and not getting the results I was wanting. I enrolled in the Canadian School for Natural Nutrition in 2007, and finished with honours in 2009 all while raising my one year old twins and a three year old daughter. My dedication to my studies was out of pure joy that I had finally found my passion. I discovered that being healthy is so much more than what we look like on the outside, it’s all about how we eat, feel, think, and treat our bodies that define our health.
My philosophy is that living a healthy lifestyle and eating well does not need to be complicated or hard, all you need is the desire and commitment to make a change. I believe in not letting our past, our age or our genetics define our state of health. It’s never too late to change our habits or unhealthy lifestyles we all can live a happy, healthy, full life.
I would love to meet you and help educate, coach and motivate you towards the happy, healthy life you deserve.

Dr.Julia SungBSc. (Hon), ND
Good health is the cornerstone of your ultimate happiness and fulfillment in life. Growing up in the rural parts of South Korea as a child with natural village medicine influenced me in a profound way when I chose to become a doctor later in my life.
I am passionate about the Healing Power of Nature (Vis Medicatrix Naturae) which is one of the core principles of the Naturopathic Medicine. I truly believe that the body has an ability to heal itself when various obstacles to health are removed (whether that being poor diet, sedentary lifestyle, or bad health habits such as smoking or over stressing) and are provided with the proper natural therapeutic agents it will surely return to its original wholesome healthy state in the absence of diseases and discomforts.
I feel fortunate to get to practice Naturopathic Medicine today because of the extraordinary opportunity where the advances in modern science and technologies from the West are available to be merged with traditional health practices and philosophies from the East. I am excited about what Naturopathic Medicine can offer you and your family!
Outside my clinical practice, my other passions include spending quality time with my family, poperatic singing, gourmet cooking and entertaining, travelling, swimming and exploring nature.
